Productivity: The Power of Planning and Review

This morning I woke up early and enjoyed the Sunday treat of a guilt-free read in bed. What added to the experience was the fact that it was raining hard and there is little in life that will make a person feel so warm and content. This, of course, only lasted for about 20 minutes when the guilt began to set in. As my brain started to come back online, I remembered, with a kind of quiet dread, that there was something to do. I had made a plan.

What is Emotional Self-Control?

Imagine, for a moment, that your phone goes ping, you look at the screen and see that you’ve had a few mentions on Twitter. You feel that little warm fizzle of acknowledgement, which soon goes to shit when you realise, with horror, that you are the subject of a discussion, but not in a good way. That little dopamine drop is soon replaced with a nauseous feeling of dread. (No, this is not based on a true story…ish).

I'm Tired!

If you are in a relationship, and especially if you have children, you have probably had the argument of who’s the most tired. Even if you don’t actually verbalise it, there’s a good chance you have internally scoffed at your partner’s claim that they are tired, immediately visualising your own, more exhausting, day.

Change is, of course, inevitable: we have children, change jobs, buy houses, experience loss, fall in love, separate, make mistakes, have successes, become responsible, learn to drive, lose loved ones…the list is pretty much endless. Life is change, and some of it is easy and some of it is really not.
