A one-day interactive course on presentation skills – Date TBC. Please add your email here to stay informed.
When my contemporaries were starting their careers temping in offices, I was escaping straitjackets in front of tourists in Covent Garden. Since wriggling free, I’ve become an award-winning magician, hosted sell-out shows and awards evenings, and worked as a performer in almost every imaginable context.
I’m a bit older (and a bit warmer) than that young street performer now, but the lessons have stayed with me. It doesn’t matter who your audience is, presenting in front of a crowd is always about two things: communication and connection.
Join me in Sheffield
For the last five years, I have been helping businesses to create effective presentations. Now, for the first time, I am offering training to individuals in the heart of Sheffield.
In our dynamic, hands-on workshop, you will learn how to build presentations and engage with audiences with the clarity and sparkle of a seasoned performer.
You’ll discover how to structure a compelling presentation, build your confidence, and communicate your message in the clearest possible way.
Places are strictly limited to 12 people to enable you to receive the best training experience possible.

This one-day, interactive workshop will provide you with a clear process to structure an engaging and dynamic presentation. You will learn that you don’t need to be an extrovert or a performer to deliver your message with confidence and ease.
Session One – Structure and the Creative process
Do you ever feel overwhelmed with the task of structuring your information into a clear and flowing presentation? Or do you not see yourself as creative? This session explores the creative process and provides a structure that we can all follow, from the initial brainstorming of ideas to the final, polished piece. By the end of the session, you will have learned not only how to shape your information in a powerful and engaging way, but you will have been through the process yourself.
Bernice McCarthy’s 4-Mat. Based on the ground-breaking work of David Kolb, the ‘4-Mat’ explores the human learning cycle and the four main learning styles, with an understanding that we all have a learning preference. Your presentation is structured around this learning cycle, ensuring that the entire audience is taken on a learning journey. This ensures that your message is communicated with everyone in mind. The 4-Mat also works as a way to structure articles, emails, pitches and proposals. Once learned, you will use it forever.
Storyboarding. You will structure your presentations using this organic creative process, after which, you will have an outline of your presentation. All in a couple of hours! This completely eradicates the feeling of overwhelm we can all experience when trying to create clarity from all the information we have.
Session Two – Delivery and Techniques
Once structured, the afternoon will focus on delivery techniques and how to overcome the challenges many of us have with presentations.
Subjects covered are:
- Body Language and Hand gestures
- Rapport with audiences
- Overcoming and working with nerves and worry
- Mental and physical rehearsal
- How to plan for practising and rehearsal
At the end of this workshop, you will be armed with the tools to deliver your message with confidence. You will probably even enjoy it!
